Love – our secret ingredient

We came across the story of Curtis Perrin in the book “The Professional”. He is a driver who operates a shuttle bus between the train and parking lot somewhere near Philadelphia. The job is to wait for the train every hour, and take the passengers from the train to the parking lot. For most it would be an excruciatingly boring job.

However, Perrin’s demeanor and behavior reflect anything but boredom. He enthusiastically greets every passenger that boards the bus, remembers the car of each passenger and takes them to their specific car instead of leaving them at the gate of the parking lot, and bids them well while leaving. No doubt the passengers love him and many a times get him something from wherever they have been to. Who doesn’t like having such delightful people in life!

The love/compassion/positivity put into every action makes a huge difference. We love this idea at Finwisor and strive to incorporate it in everything.

Love for clients

We love our clients. We have gratitude for them since they give us business which sustains our livelihood. We have a habit of routinely going out of the way in trying to help them. We often end up helping with things like Marketing, Human Resources, Start-up Advisory, even household decisions like Home buying, philanthrophy and wedding.

We love it if we are able to help.

Love for employees

It’s a little odd for us to write employees since that’s not how we perceive those working with us. We work as a happy family. We love each other and it flows in the form of help, appreciation, encouragement, respect, and all other gestures.

As the first gesture of love, we try to welcome those new to the family. We give him a daily routine to follow which is described in detail here. This is so that he too can realise his full potential and be happy and loving. The routine becomes a lasting gift which goes well beyond the stint at Finwisor for Interns.

#FinwisorFamilyForever is a thing!

Love for competitors

Really! Who loves their competitors?!
We do 😊 Frankly we don’t see them as competitors in the first place. They are seen as peers who share are trying to solve the same problem as us. If helpful, we learn from them or collaborate. If not, we co-exist. There is room for enough players in the market. There is no need to have a cut-throat relationship. We wish them good fortune.

Love for everyone

We love everyone in general. We started sharing our knowledge openly and freely though our articles to help everyone. While it became a substantial time investment for us, we are glad that it helped so many readers.

An extention of this is that a substantial part of Finwisor’s earnings goes to those who need it the most in the form of charity.

Who can we hate!?

Simple answer. No one. When you hate, or in conventional terms become indiferrent to anyone, you harm yourself. No one is happy around the person they hate. So, why would you do that!? When your love is blocked towards one, it automatically detrimentally impacts your relation with others too. Your mood becomes off and often stays off with the help of your loop thinking. You become irritable. Sometimes you may snapp at co-workers, sometimes at your friends and family. All this is best avoided. Love all!!

What about that XYZ Jackass who for no reason is irritating us!

While some people do get to our nerves, in our best times, we are able to let that go. Similar to when Jesus Christ said “O Lord! Forgive them for they know not what they do!” This doesn’t mean you don’t take any action and suppress your irritation. Take action where required, but do it out of compassion for the poor soul who has no better thing to do than irritate you. The karmic theory is a treasure trove which will help you understand this reaction the best and do it with conviction. To keep things short, I am not going into the depth of it here.

No expectations

Our love for everyone is reciprocated in unique ways. However, we strive not to develop expectations regarding the same. Expectations are a trap which affects the compassion. If expectations aren’t met, it leads to negativity. This becomes are a blockage in the flow of love not just towards that person but towards everyone. It also affects our happiness levels. The more expectations you have, the more time you will be unhappy. So we attempt to work selflessly without expectations. Happiness accrues to us by helping alone. If gratitude comes back, it becomes cherry on the cake 😊

Focus on the emotions not the actions

Doing something good without the corresponding feeling of love is like giving a gift wrapped box with nothing inside.

The magic lies in the emotions with which something is done. So take care of being in the state of love at all times and your actions by default will flow in accordance.

What do I get for all of this love!?

What do you want in life? – Happiness.. isn’t it!? You may call it by different names – Satisfaction, Love, Positivity, Pleasure, etc

A person who operates out of love stays happy for as long as he is loving. So wouldn’t you want to be loving all the time! Love leads to empathy which makes you thoughtful in your actions. Love makes you kind, so you are happy to go the extra mile. Love helps you create healthier relationships which bring security, comfort, joy.. an emotionally healthy states also helps in maintaining good physical health. Love makes you happy which brings creativity, productivity, confidence, faster self-growth… you get the idea!

Co-operate and Collaborate…Don’t Compete!

In today’s modern society, we are all trained to compete against each other and do our best to get to the top. In the school, college, post-graduation, workplace, reality shows, Bollywood, literally everywhere we see and hear about competitions. The one who wins them is glorified. There are award ceremonies, certificates and trophies, and glamour attached to winning. Hence our subconscious mind is unknowingly programmed to be competitive. So what’s the problem with competing!? The problem with competing is it takes people to a zero-sum game mindset. If one wins, the other loses. This concept is popularised by the name of ' scarcity mindset' . In one of the schools, a student had received 45/50 marks. That by her own standards was amazing! 90%! Then she asked her friends how many marks they had received. They had got 46, 48, 48, 50, 46 ,45. Her exuberance dropped. The same marks which made her ecstatic no more seemed appealing. The problem is the competition mindset. Y...

Stay Clean

This topic has many conflicting views. This article is meant to help. Those who agree. And especially those who disagree. I write this article not from a place of moral superiority, but as a well wisher. Please take the below views in that context. What do I mean by staying clean? We, as Indians, have a culture of not abiding by the rules. Even as proud and patriotic Indians, we disregard the tax laws, the traffic laws, and everything where the law enforcement is weak. Stats show that only 1.6% of India's population pay income tax. Even amongst those who pay, some of us underreport our income. Reasons why we don't stay clean I can empathize the causes behind such a culture. Here are the most common reasons. Corruption : Why should we pay taxes when most of it just goes in the pockets of the corrupt politicians and babus! The better alternative: It's better to give to charity rather than to the government. At least it will be put to good use. Cost of living: With such high c...

Finwisor's Unique HR Strategy

In the early days of Finwisor, I heard a friend of mine - Tushar Rokade, the then city head of Weddingz.in - say "I want to hire people who are smarter than me." What struck me about this statement was not just the humility of an MBA from IIM-L who was making strides in his own industry, but a great ideal for creating a workplace. Our HR Challenges Our unconventional objectives Our ethos, where Sewa is the primary objective and profit secondary, is something we ourselves had never heard of. There is little literature on parameters to judge people's willingness to serve. On the other hand, we live in times where career success is defined by the earnings of an individual. People aligned with our ideals are a rarity in such times. Fast-changing industry In the rapidly changing world of financial planning, the landscape is dynamic. It requires individuals who have an innate curiosity to keep molding themselves and learning as per the changing scenarios. Remuner...
