How to learn

This article is originally meant for interns and employees of Finwisor. But we sincerely believe it may be helpful to everyone, so we are putting it our here. This articles relates to learning of any and every kind. Learning is an attitude towards life more than a stage of life after all! Levels of absorption If you are to make a choice, what would you rather do. Give 5 hours and derive the benefit for 5 months. Or give 10 hours and derive the benefits for a lifetime? Of course the latter one. So let's dig into the layers of learning to understand how to consciously make the most of your time. 1.      Layer 1 learning Superficial learning – parroting, hearing, listening, understanding (in increasing order of absorption)   Spending time on such learning is actually a waste of your time. You will have the satisfaction of learning something, but you will not retain much of it for long. After some time, you will also not be able to apply much of it. 2. ...

Love – our secret ingredient

We came across the story of Curtis Perrin in the book “ The Professional ”. He is a driver who operates a shuttle bus between the train and parking lot somewhere near Philadelphia. The job is to wait for the train every hour, and take the passengers from the train to the parking lot. For most it would be an excruciatingly boring job. However, Perrin’s demeanor and behavior reflect anything but boredom. He enthusiastically greets every passenger that boards the bus, remembers the car of each passenger and takes them to their specific car instead of leaving them at the gate of the parking lot, and bids them well while leaving. No doubt the passengers love him and many a times get him something from wherever they have been to. Who doesn’t like having such delightful people in life! The love/compassion/positivity put into every action makes a huge difference. We love this idea at Finwisor and strive to incorporate it in everything. Love for clients We love our clients. We have ...

Daily routine for Finwisor Family

A set of habits become routines. Routines are incredibly powerful in their long term impact. Naturally we want everyone to reap benefits of this tool. So we have created a routine for our Finwisor family. We have also given the rationale for the routine, so that one can do it whole heartedly. This routine is life-altering and will be something which you will take well beyond your time at Finwisor. Meditation It is a well documented fact that those who meditate are calmer, happier, and respond to situations better. The ultimate purpose of meditation is to reach a space beyond the mind and body which allows one to tap into the infinite cosmos. However, these days there are various meditations which amplify certain good emotions or create a valley between the circumstances and the observer. Follow a Guru By guru we mean an enlightened master who you connect to. All the religions promote similar virtues. Following a guru will help you reduce your ego, find deeper purpose in...

Co-operate and Collaborate…Don’t Compete!

In today’s modern society, we are all trained to compete against each other and do our best to get to the top. In the school, college, post-graduation, workplace, reality shows, Bollywood, literally everywhere we see and hear about competitions. The one who wins them is glorified. There are award ceremonies, certificates and trophies, and glamour attached to winning. Hence our subconscious mind is unknowingly programmed to be competitive. So what’s the problem with competing!? The problem with competing is it takes people to a zero-sum game mindset. If one wins, the other loses. This concept is popularised by the name of ' scarcity mindset' . In one of the schools, a student had received 45/50 marks. That by her own standards was amazing! 90%! Then she asked her friends how many marks they had received. They had got 46, 48, 48, 50, 46 ,45. Her exuberance dropped. The same marks which made her ecstatic no more seemed appealing. The problem is the competition mindset. Y...
